Climate and Energy POlicy 101

Join Dr. Mike Mastrandrea for a casual conversation on his work co-leading the Climate and Energy Policy Program in the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and serving as the Director of Policy at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Accelerator. He will also talk about his career journey from doing a PhD at Stanford to being a part of the leadership team for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fifth Assessment Report to what he does now. Lunch provided.

Join the first Stanford Science Policy Group (SSPG) lunch seminar, Environmental Policy 101! Drs. Ed and Heather Pert, (Former South Coast Region Regional Manager, California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, respectively). will introduce you to environmental policy, especially as it relates to conservation and ecology. Lunch will be offered for those who attend in-person.

New to science policy, or just want a refresher? Our annual SciPol 101 seminar is a fantastic way to start getting involved with SSPG, meet other new members, and get a broad overview of the current landscape of science policy. This seminar will be given by Dr. Allison Berke and Patrick Windham, both of whom teach Stanford’s Science and Technology Policy course. Allison Berke will discuss her experience transitioning from a PhD in science to a career in science policy. Patrick Windham will discuss his experience working as a science policy staff member in the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
